Documents, Drawings, and 3D ModelsWhere drawings live in FabTrk and how they render: PDF and DXF viewers with real part marks, the in-browser IFC model, folders, revisions, and statuses.A fabrication job is its documents. FabTrk treats them as first class project data, not a folder of attachments bolted onto the side: filed, versioned, viewable in the browser on any device, and linked to the parts and assemblies they describe. How documents are organized Each project's document set is filed by what the document is : GA / plan sheets : general arrangement drawings such as framing plans, sheeting plans, elevations, anchor bolt plan, and cross sections. Assembly drawings : one per assembly mark. Because the drawing's name carries the mark, FabTrk links it to the live assembly automatically: open the assembly, and its drawing is right there. KISS / cut lists : the machine readable BOM slot, where a KISS CSV lives. IFC : the 3D model. Documents carry a revision label and a status ( In Review , released, and so on), so the set reflects where the paperwork actually stands, not just what files exist. Viewing without downloading Every format renders in the browser; nothing round trips through a desktop CAD seat just to be looked at: PDF drawings open in an inline viewer on web and mobile. DXF drawings render as vector graphics with their part marks drawn on the drawing : the same marks the BOM tracks, so the drawing and the parts list speak the same language. IFC models mount an interactive 3D viewer: orbit, zoom, and click members to identify them. The same model powers the per assembly and per part 3D views, so "which piece is this?" has a visual answer at every level, down to a single member. On supported devices the model can also be viewed in augmented reality: the building at scale, standing in real space. Uploading and generating Documents arrive two ways. Uploaded : drag files in during pack ingest or add them to a project directly; bytes are stored durably in FabTrk's storage, not on someone's laptop. Generated : publishing a design from the Designer produces a starter set automatically (GA sheets, per assembly drawings, and the IFC model), each filed in the right folder with drawing content attached where the Designer generated it. Generated sheets start at Rev 0, In Review . They are drafts by definition, and the revision/status fields exist precisely so your review process can promote them deliberately. Sharing models outside the shop A project's 3D model can be published as a read only embed or a revocable share link, with a disclosure setting that controls whether viewers see just geometry or member level detail. Practical notes The document a task references is attached to the task, so the floor opens the right sheet from the work itself instead of browsing folders. Part marks are the thread through everything: the mark on the DXF is the mark in the BOM is the mark on the assembly drawing's name. If you keep marks disciplined in your detailing, FabTrk's linking does the rest. Storage counts against your plan; keep superseded revisions, but there is no need to upload the same package twice, because re ingesting replaces a project's generated data idempotently.
